There is no such thing as a complaint-free business or industry. Through complaining customers and rectifying dissatisfaction, teams uncover weaknesses and determine where to invest their efforts.

For our team, 2021 is a continuation of a client-centric approach we’ve been fine-tuning for some time now. All departments have allocated time and resources to achieve this.

Our team has long evaluated White Shark Media’s reviews on Yelp for this very reason. A set of old reviews resulted in a low rating on the platform a while back and flagged our attention.

At the time, our team focused on the unhappy customers and how their comments offered insight into fixing some of our go-to’s. This practice strengthened the foundation of our white label PPC services.

A closer look revealed that some of our processes were out-of-date and that our team needed to invest more into engaging with our clients. Though many were standard industry practices, we took the opportunity to listen to our customers and adapted to methods that were more to their liking.

So, what did they have to say that made us get up out of our chairs? Below are some of the reviews that we learned from and ended up shaping our current methodology.

Cold Calls

The Issue: “Your sales team doesn’t stop calling me and uses tricky ways to catch my attention.”

It’s safe to say that we are all happy that the cold call era is behind us. Before sales teams realized this, the recipients found themselves annoyed. Because it was a form of sales, there was also little control over sales personnel on how they managed to get their reader’s attention.

We get it, and since then have shifted to touching base with potential customers more helpfully and casually. Processes get the right information to the right people in the most appropriate way.

As a white label PPC agency, White Shark Media’s priority is to make every encounter with our team a pleasant one. Strategists and sales invest a load in creating content so that when our sales representatives do reach out to you, they are providing value to the experience.

  • Sales trainings were implemented to help educate and manage the methods that representatives were using to get their client’s attention

Our WSM Portal offers increased transparency, where customers can review everything that is going on in their account, from account optimizations to monthly reports and FAQ. Also, within our Customer Portal, customers can submit account or information requests that automatically show up in our strategists’ dashboards for faster turn-around-times on inquiries and account changes.

When a strategist is out, our Portal allows another strategist to take over and maintain turn-around time without interrupting service.

Our team schedules monthly status calls to discuss the account results, account strategy, feedback on the leads generated, growth opportunities, and any significant events/promotions coming up. These calls ensure we have the right plan in place that aligns with our customers.

Also, we’ve streamlined a lot of our other processes by including technology, which means that our strategists are now more efficient when it comes to communicating with our customers.

Finally, customer centricity and customer happiness are our main focuses for the year. Since last year, we have sent out monthly CSATs and created a platform where customers have a chance to provide us with feedback continually, so we take action as soon as possible.

Campaign Performance

The Issue: “Poor campaign performance.”

Complaints like these are the hardest to fix because of the nature of PPC.

Though we are experts in our field, it is not an exact science. PPC is an extremely powerful tool, but it renders differently for every account. Moreover, it varies by market, region, and season. As we learned in 2020, unprecedented factors fluctuate a campaign performance and consumer behavior.

Getting an essential read of campaign performance with limited insight requires at least three months of data. If a client isn’t on board with the timeline, it is challenging for them to understand the potential features over time.

We often conclude that these issues point to a lack of communication. Teams must inform their clients of how the PPC process works and communicate the reasons behind each strategy. That way, clients can trust that it’s a matter of time before they begin to achieve the campaign objectives and provide results.

Our Solution:

It took time, but each of these contributed to the design of our PPC blueprint. Our Product Managers test new features, synchronize weekly, and leverage SWOT analysis practices to find areas of improvement within clients’ accounts.

To strengthen the base, a market research team (SMAs, proposals), to fortify more resources for solid strategies before launching campaigns. This helps establish a long-lasting foundation from day one.

Our smaller teams of Digital Marketing Strategists and Managers make it easier to connect and dedicate time to each team member and corresponding accounts.

Our team attended the 2019 Microsoft Advertising Agency Awards on Thursday, September 19th, at Spring Studio in New York. The nomination alone has provided encouraging insights into our methods and certainty in our work. 

Our work with Norwall PowerSystems, allowed us to identify the opportunities to serve their community during the hurricane season and saw a positive trend we were having in performance. The company specializes in emergency backup power generators and associated equipment and has over 55 years of experience in the electrical and power plant arenas. We knew that Microsoft users have higher purchasing power than those on other platforms and focused on Norwall’s targeting options. Microsoft Advertising allowed us to show ads to those in the real estate industry, both residential and commercial properties for sale and construction.

Google Marketing Live is now one of the most popular events in the industry. This year, we attended alongside 5,000+ digital marketers, the Google team, and industry leaders in San Francisco, California.

We were introduced to the new features that Google will be rolling out this year. Some of these changes could significantly improve performance for advertisers across the board. A common discussion are the roles that Machine Learning and automation are playing in digital marketing, and how to leverage the several tools Google has to offer to enhance the user experience.

Discovery Ads

Discovery Ads is a new ad format that will allow advertisers to capture customers in the moments when they are most receptive to new experiences and products. These ads will be served on YouTube, Gmail, and Google’s Discover Feed and are displayed to the consumers most likely to take action at that particular moment in time.

Gallery Ads

Gallery Ads will now offer advertisers to showcase a gallery of images in the search results. These ads are displayed in a carousel format, and allow advertisers to entice the consumer with visuals within the search network.

YouTube Bumpers

Bumpers are probably the best example of how far Machine Learning and AI have come. These ads are automatically generated into a catchy 6-second ad format based on existing video content. The bumper machine, as Google calls it, will turn any video under 90 seconds into 6-second bumper ads that can be used across the video network.

Smart Bidding and Conversion Tracking

Significant changes are coming to the way conversions are tracked. This will allow for more effective smart bidding options such as conversion actions being available at the campaign level, and optimizing campaigns based on conversion sets. Rather than treating the account as a single conversion driver, this allows the algorithm to focus on the right goal for each campaign. Another exciting policy change that’s been made applies to seasonality bidding. You can now set specific adjustments based on seasonality, to get the most out of your spend.

Google Shopping Revamp

Google will now allow shoppers to make purchases directly from the shopping interface where users can view product images, reviews, price comparisons, and even unboxing videos.

Local Campaigns

With a focus on increasing store visits and in-store purchases, Google is pushing local campaigns. This will allow local advertisers to leverage machine learning and automation to increase traffic to their stores.

This year, the WordPress Managua Community is hosting the fourth edition of the WordCamp Managua. Sponsoring this event opens up doors to over 300 attendees and offers an array of different opportunities such as expanding their network at a global level.

WordCamps are community-organized events that are coordinated by WordPress users like our web department and strategist. These events are global conferences happening all over the world and hosted by local communities just like ours.

Since 2006, there have been 978 WordCamps in over 70 cities across six continents, each dedicated to improving the websites that are hosted by WordPress.com or WordPress.org

 

As WordPress is a content management system, the main objectives of these events are to:

  • Share information to update attendees on the digital industries’ trends
  • Focus on open source softwares and its’ improvements
  • Suggest new tools to boost sales and grow businesses reach
  • Provide useful techniques at the SEO and SEM levels

As daily WordPress users, we found these events are a great way to share our knowledge and learn best practices from local and global speakers that we will implement to coding and strategy.

WordCamps formats vary based on the local communities that produce them. WCMGA2019 will consist of five main categories: SEO & SEM, Marketing, Development, Entrepreneurship & Open Source Communities, and Design.

 

Sharks Are Speaking at the Camp

Learning requires both sharing and listening. White Shark Media will be represented by 6 amazing Sharks at this fourth edition. Speakers include our VP of Product, Francisco Lacayo, our L&D leadership, Claudio Dominguez and Grecia Morales, one of our designers, Pedro Cuadra, one of our Digital Marketing Strategist, Yamil Abud, and one of our Strategic Marketing Analyst, Adriana Marquez.

Each of them will share best practices in digital environments. Some of these include: (1) how to be found in search, (2) how to re-engage with consumers (3) identify processes to design solutions, (4) holistic marketing strategies, and (5) how to take advantage of new technologies such as AI.

 

Providing Job Opportunities

We will also have a small Job Fair! Recruiting the most capable individuals is something that makes us proud. Our People Ops team will have a stand welcoming all those potential sharks attending the event. We’ll be receiving applications and sharing swag with the attendees, other sponsors, organizers, and speakers.
