Hi everyone, I’m Tony Soares, the director of SEO and Web for White Shark Media, and today we’re going to be discussing the four keys to friendly web design.

The Fundamental Four

Jumping right in, the first key is to follow the four conventions of friendly web design. These are things that all customers expect to find when they reach your website, and the closer you are to having these four conventions, the easier it is for them to navigate your site. The four conventions are that your logo is a home button, you have horizontal navigation, having your phone number and/or your address in the top right corner of your site, and that your website is mobile responsive.

Show Your True Colors

The second key to SEO friendly web design is to take care of your color scheme and layout of your website. For color schemes, you want to avoid contrasting colors; black backgrounds with yellow text, blue backgrounds with white text. You want to make your color palette easy to read and easy on the eyes. For the layout of your website, you want clear paths of conversions. All of your call to actions and all of your important information should be featured at the top of your website. And anything that is less important should either be removed altogether or pushed below the fold.

Lead in the Right Direction

The third key is to establish a goal for each page on your website. If the point of that page is to lead to a form submission or an email, then you want to make sure that your contact form is the focal point of that page. But if the goal of that page is to inform a visitor, then you want everything on that page to focus on the information with no distracting elements to get in the way.

Optimize from Online Behaviour

Lastly, and most importantly, you want to track all of your efforts. You can use tools like Google Analytics, Hotjar, and Crazy Egg to track user interaction and adjust accordingly.

Master Your Designs
